Concert Bands

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble at Cheney High School is our upper level concert band. Students in this ensemble go through an audition process in April or May each year. This ensemble is focused on a wide array of repertoire that includes classic band literature as well as contemporary selections. The Wind Ensemble regularly receives superior ratings at local festivals and contests.

This ensemble has three regularly scheduled concerts each year, and attends 1-2 festivals throughout the year. They are often also asked to perform with local universities and are given other opportunities to perform each year. In the spring of 2024, the Wind Ensemble was asked to perform with the Eastern Washington University Wind Ensemble. They were also invited to perform with the Whitworth Wind Symphony and Ridgeline High School Wind Ensemble in a joint concert at the FOX Theater in downtown Spokane.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band at Cheney High School is our entry level concert band. This ensemble is open to all students that are not in Wind Ensemble and have any pervious band experience. This ensemble is focused on literature and fundamentals that will prepare students for an opportunity to move into Wind Ensemble. Symphonic Band also performs at three regularly scheduled concerts throughout the year and focuses on a variety of music.
